Nylon
Our recycled nylon is crafted from ocean waste and pre-consumer material scraps that would otherwise end up in landfills. Through advanced recycling technologies, we regenerate nylon waste to its original quality, enhancing the resilience of our pieces. By opting for recycled nylon, we reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and minimize the environmental impact associated with producing new virgin fibres.
Nylon is durable and easy to maintain, making it a practical choice for everyday wear. Hand washing and air drying are effective ways to extend the life of your nylon garments, as they prevent the wear and tear that can come from machine washing and drying.
HOW TO WASH AND DRY NYLON
A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE
MACHINE WASHING
If the care label permits machine washing, follow these steps to maintain the integrity of your nylon garments.
STEP 1
Pre-treat any oil-based stains with detergent or stain remover before washing. Rinse the stained areas thoroughly to remove any residue.
STEP 2
Use a suitable detergent and wash the garment separately on a cold wash cycle at 30 degrees Celsius. For added protection, place the item in a GUPPYFRIEND® washing bag to minimize damage and capture any microfibres released during the wash.
HAND WASHING
Hand washing can help prolong the life of your nylon garments and prevent pilling.
STEP 1
In a clean bowl, dissolve a small amount of delicate wash detergent in lukewarm water, not exceeding 30°C.
STEP 2
Submerge the garment and gently agitate the water with your hands to ensure the detergent is evenly distributed.
STEP 3
Allow the item to soak for up to 20 minutes to loosen any dirt or residues.
STEP 4
Rinse the garment thoroughly with cool water. Avoid wringing; instead, gently press the water out to prevent distortion.
DRYING
Proper drying techniques are crucial to maintaining the quality of nylon.
STEP 1
Hang or line dry your nylon garments. Check the care label to determine if you should avoid direct sunlight, as this can affect the color or print.
STEP 2
Avoid using heat or tumble dryers, as these can cause static and pilling. Air drying is the best method to preserve the garment’s texture and appearance.
