Viscose is a man-made cellulosic fiber derived from wood pulp, related to other fibers like acetate, lyocell, modal, and cupro. Known for its high absorbency and breathability, viscose provides a soft, comfortable feel but is prone to shrinking up to 5% when washed. To ensure the longevity and quality of your viscose garments, it is crucial to follow proper care instructions.

HOW TO WASH AND DRY VISCOSE

A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

HAND WASHING
If your care label specifies hand washing, use the following steps to maintain your viscose garment's quality.

STEP 1
Dissolve a small amount of delicate wash detergent in lukewarm water, with a maximum temperature of 30°C, in a clean bowl.

STEP 2
Submerge the item in the solution and gently agitate with your hands to ensure the detergent is evenly distributed.

STEP 3
Let the garment soak for up to 20 minutes to allow for thorough cleaning.

STEP 4
Rinse the item well with cool water. Avoid wringing; instead, press out excess water gently to prevent distortion.

STEP 5
Due to the high absorbency of viscose, the garment may feel different when wet. Once dry and ironed, it will return to its original texture and appearance.

MACHINE WASHING

If your care label permits delicate machine washing, follow these steps to care for your viscose items.

STEP 1
Turn the viscose garment inside out to protect its outer surface during washing.

STEP 2
Place the item in a mesh or GUPPYFRIEND® washing bag to prevent snags and minimize damage.

STEP 3
Add a delicate washing detergent suitable for the load size. Avoid washing with heavier items like jeans that could cause excessive agitation.

STEP 4
Select the delicate wash cycle on your machine, keeping the temperature below 30 degrees Celsius and using a very low spin cycle to minimize stress on the fibers.

STEP 5
As with hand washing, the garment may feel different when wet. Once dry and ironed, it will regain its original texture.

DRYING

Proper drying is essential to preserve the shape and texture of viscose.

STEP 1
Lay the garment flat in its natural shape to dry. Avoid using heat or placing it in a tumble dryer, as this can cause shrinkage and damage.

STEP 2
To remove creases, turn the item inside out and set your iron to a cool setting. Place a damp cloth between the garment and the iron to reduce creases and prevent glazing at the seams.
